Bondarenko I.O. Neurohumoral regulation changes according to heart rate va- riability in patients with moderate and severe stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. – Manuscript. Dissertation for the degree of candidate medical sciences by specialty 14.01.27 - pulmonology. State department “National Institute of Phthisiology and Pulmonology of Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine named by F.G.Yanov- skiy”, Kyiv, 2008. The work covers the problems of investigating the clinical parameters, indi- ces of external respiration function (ERF) and heart rate variability (HRV) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) against a background of the basic herapy depending on the gender, age, duration of the disease, term of smoking and initial level of total power of HRV spec- trum. The study involved 105 patients with COPD in the stage of remission (36 female and 69 male) aged (60,4 ± 9,6) with COPD lasting (10,1 ± 5,3) years. The complex investigation demonstrated efficacy of the long-term basic thera- py for COPD. Initial variations in the degree of HRV parameters in patients with COPD II – III stage were found. They characterized by total power decrea- sed and increased level of low to high relation. More significant disturbances of HRV were found in males, elderly patients and in smokers. The importance of HRV technology for the state of regulatory systems control in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on the stages of basic therapy was pro- ven. The former can be used in the practical work of the clinicians to improve the quality of diagnosis, therapy and prognosis of COPD course.
